Matthew Linton

With deep expertise in space law, regulation, AI, employment, and as a general counsel, Matthew provides strategic legal counsel to companies ranging from startups to mature enterprises. He helps clients navigate the complex legal landscape of the space industry, enabling national security and commercial missions through tailored, solutions-driven strategies that foster innovation and government collaboration.

Most recently, he served as Chief Legal Officer at True Anomaly, a national security space startup, where he built the legal function from the ground up, supported funding rounds, led regulatory engagement (FCC, NOAA, DoD), and structured key government contracts. Prior to that, he was Associate General Counsel at Lockheed Martin Space, advising on regulatory compliance, crisis response, government contracts, and national security matters.

Earlier in his career, he practiced at national law firms and served at the U.S. Department of Labor, where he prosecuted civil regulatory violations. He began his legal career clerking for Chief Justice Mary Mullarkey of the Colorado Supreme Court.

Recognitions include Colorado Super Lawyers “Rising Star,” the U.S. Department of Labor Secretary’s Exceptional Achievement Award, and multiple Lockheed Martin honors, including a Corporate NOVA Award. He holds a J.D. from the University of Denver and a B.A. in Philosophy, magna cum laude, from CU Boulder.

Outside of work, he enjoies skiing, hiking, and travel trailering with his wife, two kids, and their dog, Alice.
